Resonance (The Bell)

︎
The tube vibrates and produces its own sound; it interacts with surrounding space, which causes reflections of sound and shifts of the tone according with visitors position in space.

Input frequency is completely transformed by the resonance of the tube and once more by the tubes interaction with the surrounding space.

︎

Resonance is a tendency of a system to oscillate at a greater amplitude at some frequencies rather than at others. Since the system stores vibrational energy, at these frequencies, even small periodic driving forces can produce large amplitude oscillations.

The tube has a resonant frequency of 140Hz. Audio speaker is positioned in the center of the steel tube and plays continuous tone of 140Hz. The tube starts to vibrate and produces its own sound; it interacts with surrounding space, which causes reflections of sound and shifts of the tone according with visitors position in space. Input frequency is completely transformed by the resonance of the tube and once more by the tubes interaction with the surrounding space.
